Nancy Teas-Crain and Linda Thompson have many years of experience working with students and writing a variety of mathematics materials. They have worked with students in classroom as teachers and have each raised two children.
Nancy has classroom experience teaching math and has worked in educational publishing for many years. She has written for Creative Classroom and has taught at a California charter school in addition to writing materials for educational publishers.
Linda worked as a math teacher and department head in junior and senior high schools for several years before becoming a writer and editor. She is the author or coauthor of several textbooks, including Business Math, Consumer Math, McGraw-Hill Mathematics, Pre-algebra, and Collier’s What Do You Know about Math? and has written articles for Scholastic Math Magazine and Creative Classroom. In addition, she has extensive experience writing pupil and teacher materials for a number of different textbook companies.
Their experience in writing for textbooks in accordance with National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and state standards has provided them with the expertise needed to select the best topics for inclusion in Math for Puzzled Parents, Book 1, 2nd edition, and Book 2.
Nancy and Linda are so happy to be able share their expertise to help parents be more prepared and relaxed as they work with students on homework. They know that there is no more fulfilling or important role than that of parent.
